CONDUCTING


Robert Denham began conducting while a student at Biola University under the tutelage of Robert Feller, director of the Biola Conservatory Symphonic Winds.  Since then he has gone on to direct the Conservatory's New Music Ensemble, and to serve as music director for the Biola Youth Theater productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Annie Get Your Gun.  Denham specializes in music written by living composers, having conducted works by John Adams (Shaker Loops), Peter Bacchus (Awakening the Inner Voice), Robert Denham (This is Just to Say: 8 Songs on Texts of William Carlos Williams), Simon Fink (22), Paul Hogan (Pocket), Jong-chan Lee (Seventy-Eighty Self-Portrait and La Virginité Perdue), Yun-Jae Ok (The Battle), Robert Thurston (Ascendance), Yiorgos Vassilandonakis (Aeriko), Tyler Walker (Schemes and Consolations), and Chen Yi (Sparkle).  Dr. Denham will assume directorship of the Biola University Conservatory Symphony Orchestra for one semester in the Fall of 2009.
