Douglas Davis and the California State University of Bakersfield Wind Esnemble will perform Echoes from Tilden in October of 2009, and Goat Hall Productions plans to present a truncated version of Sutter Creek in the California Bay Area in the summer of 2010. Charles Koontz recently premiered "The Kraken's One Day is as Another" at the Southwest Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference in May of 2009. James T. Decker and the Texas Tech University Trombone Quartet premiered Ex Nihilo for trombone quartet and trombone soloist on April 6, 2009 in Lubbock TX and plans to perform the work at several trombone conferences during the 2009/10 school year. Shawna Stewart and the Biola Conservatory Chorale premiered Three Attributive Psalms April 26, 2009, and Ilan Morgenstern premiered Sizzl' for bass trombone and piano on the Music at Noon Concert Series, April 8, 2009. Robert Feller and the Biola Conservatory Symphonic Winds premiered Echoes from Tilden for wind ensemble on their Spring 2009 concert, and Rodney Winther and the CCM Wind Symphony gave a subsequent performance in April of 2009; a third performance is scheduled for October 2009 at Cal State Bakersfield. Other recent works include Sutter Creek, a cycle of 21 songs based on the Gold Rush town of Sutter Creek situated in California's Mother Lode (premiered in Sutter Creek on August 31, 2008), and Missing Missy for English Horn and orchestra (premiered by the Biola Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in the Fall of 2008).
