Jalopy for brass quintet (1999).

Pelican Music Publishing

Jalopy places American “pop” rhythms and gestures alongside of a deliberately square Neoclassical texture.   A successful performance of this work will exaggerate the tendencies of both traditions, thereby creating a humorous concoction of styles.  The piece suggests the youthful pride of an adolescent who is enthralled with the concept of owning his first automobile.
