Missing Missy for English Horn and orchestra (2008).
I wrote this work at the request of Marlin Owen and the faculty of the Biola University Conservatory of Music. It was their desire to create a memorial concert remembering one of our dearest students, Missy Belton, who lost her life in a tragic automobile accident while returning to Biola after Christmas break. Missy was a breath of fresh air to our department, constantly displaying a sweet (and genuine) smile that would liven up any room she walked into. She was extremely gifted as a musician, performing on both the oboe and English horn. Her parents have continued their support of the Conservatory since her death in memory of their beloved daughter.
