Span (From here to there) for violin, viola, cello, piano, and Orff xylophone (2002).
This work is written for an ensemble of young performers, some of which have only 1 or 2 years of experience. The piece consists of a set of variations on the well known theme London Bridge is Falling Down. The variations allow the performers to experience a wide variety of musical styles; some traditional, and others not so traditional. It will be interesting to see if the performers can identify the different ways in which the tune is used throughout the piece. In one place it is even played backwards!
